Program Mission
To honor and recognize service personnel who are serving, have served, or given their lives to our country in the United States Armed Forces.
Application Requirements:
To be considered for a banner, the nominee must meet the following requirements:
- Affiliated with Burgaw or Pender County.
- Currently serving, honorably discharged, or deceased in the line of duty in one of the following branches: Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, or Space Force—whether in Active Duty, Reserve, or National Guard status.
Banner Design, Time Frame & Location:
Banners are 30" X 60", double-sided, vinyl material and include service person's name, branch of service, era of service (optional) and photo image. Banners will be displayed on poles within the corporate limits of Burgaw. Placement will be selected randomly; specific display locations cannot be requested. Banners will be displayed for two years, from Memorial Day to Veterans Day each year.
Banner Photograph:
All photographs on the banners will be displayed in black and white. Black and white photos are not required to be uploaded; color photos will be changed to black and white at the time of banner production. The photograph submitted must be the hero in service uniform and uploaded below at the time of application submittal.
Banner Pricing:
The price for each banner is $180. The funds are used for the production, installation, removal and storage of the banner. Payment must be made online at the time of application submittal.
Other Information:
After the initial two-year period, the sponsor will be notified that the banner is eligible for renewal. Individuals wishing to continue to display banners may be subject to a reasonable processing fee for subsequent years, or the individual may pick-up the banner at Town Hall. We are not responsible for unforeseeable weather related damage.
